About Us

History:
The Atlanta Themis Alumnae Chapter was chartered on April 1, 1968. Since that time, the Chapter has grown in size and success. Atlanta Themis received recognition from National Council at the 2008 Convention. We came home with the crown chapter award and were honored with silver, Alumnae Service Award (2nd runner-up). This award is one of the highest awards presented to an alumnae chapter. Years of hard work, dedicated members, creative programming, and commitment to service has continued to pay off.

Group Dynamics:
We are a group of approximately forty members, which represent over fifteen collegiate chapters. The majority of our members are in their 20s and 30s, but we range from recent college graduates to well-seasoned ZTAs who have seen and done it all.

Meeting Info:
We hold meetings from September through June on the second Thursday of each month at 7:00pm for Themis Thursday. We generally meet in the Buckhead or Perimeter area.

Service to the Community:
Atlanta Themis plans monthly service projects for the Chapter which benefit various segments of our city. Some of the projects we have planned in the past include collection of school and media supplies, canned food drive, adopting a family during Christmas, delivering valentines to the elderly, Race for the Cure, and Dress for Success.

Chapter Correspondence:
We send out a newsletter each month which provides all of the details for the upcoming meeting, as well as information on other chapter activities and updates on our fraternity nationwide. In addition to the newsletter, an E-vite (via e-mail) is sent out before each meeting to serve as a reminder of the upcoming event.

Other Activities:
In addition to our monthly meetings and service activities, Atlanta Themis plans fundraising events, such as Sally Foster and Shopping Events, to raise money for the ZTA Foundation. We also plan other social activities outside of our monthly meetings and encourage involvement with our local collegiate chapters: Georgia State University, Georgia Tech, and Brenau University.

National Philanthropy:
Atlanta Themis supports Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation through sponsorship and fundraising. In conjunction with other Atlanta area chapters, a Think Pink Brunch is organized to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation through a ZTA Foundation and to promote breast cancer awareness in the Atlanta community. Please click on link below for more information about the brunch.
